We are beginning to migrate our online photo hosting to Zenfolio services. Our new sample galleries will be uploaded to our new account. We will continue to to use Photoshelter.com for our ecommerce component for the time being but in time will be partnering with Zenfolio for not only hosting but also fulfillment as well.

New Website Template and Layout

As everyone can see, a new coat of paint and rearrangement of things has happened here at dc2photography. I hope you like the new template layout. I'm still tweaking the Pixels Paradise template to suite my needs. Comments are welcome.

As I gear up for the 2008 season, I will be updating the site over the next few weeks.

One announcement to make is, I am now offering stock photos for sale and licensing through Photoshelter Collection for publishing and commercial uses.

Photograph Published in Georgetown Newspaper

Recently, a couple photographs from a Golf sports shoot I did for Samantha Spencer were recently selected for use by the Georgetown Independant Free Press for an article about Samantha representing Canada at the US Kid's World Championship Golf Tournament at Pinehurst Resort, North Carolina.

Highlight/Shadow Action

Sometimes when shooting outdoors, there is no avoiding the harsh contrast that results in dark shadows. Sometimes we can compensate for the harsh shadows with fill flash however this is not always practical. When I shoot Cutting Horse, over the course of a day I'm shooting upwards of a 1000 photos, many times in bursts of 3-5 images at 8 frames per second and fill flash is not practical due to the recycling times. As well, with sporting type events you are shooting at a distance that deminishes the effects of fill flash.

This is where some digital manipulation is requried to enhance the image and where I have found the Shadow/Highlight filter of Photoshop CS very useful.
